The two creation, Mental and Physical

The two creation, Mental and Physical:

All things are created twice – there’s a mental or first creation and there’s a physical or second creation to all things.

Take the construction of a house, for example. You create or visualize it in every detail before you ever hammer the first nail into place. You work with your mind until you get a clear image of what you want to build. Then you reduce these thoughts to blueprint and then make a construction plan. All these done before earth is touched that is in your first creation. If no, you will have to make expensive changes that may double the cost of your home in second creation.

How do we correlate this TWO CREATIONS in our business execution?

In a project environment, we all are working for a set of requirements defined by our stake holders. In order to understand requirements with clarity and completeness, one should be in “PROBLEM SPACE”.

A problem space is the area of software engineering where questions on business requirements and business process are asked and answered. AS AN ENGINEER THIS SHOULD BE OUR FIRST CREATION or MENTAL CREATION.

Only when the problem space explored fully, one should step into solution space. THIS IS OUR SECOND CREATION or PHYSICAL CREATION.

A solution space is the area of software engineering where solutions to the needs described in the problem space are designed and developed.

Stepping into solution space too soon or overlapping the two spaces give rise to requirements that are not implementation free.

If you want to execute a project in a very successful way, you clearly define what you are trying to accomplish. You carefully think through the product or service you want to provide in terms of market target, then visualize about financial, research and development, operations, marketing, personnel, physical facilities, team and so on – to meet the objective. Most business failures are due to failure in first creation such as a under capitalization, misunderstanding of the market and requirements or lack of business plan.

Whether we are aware of it or not, whether we are in control of it or not, there is a first creation to every part of our lives. If we do not develop our own self-awareness and become responsible for first creations, we empower other people and circumstances outside our circle of influence to shape much of our lives by default.

The unique human capacities of self-awareness, imagination and conscience enable us to examine first creations and make it possible for us to take charge of our own first creation to write our own script.
